There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

Marriage without Jesus is like bread without peanut butter:

In BC,(before I was saved), my wife of two years was a good woman and still is just better.  However, I was a jerk to put it mildly.  I don't know how she  put up with me.  I was, with the help of the devil, driving a wedge between us and generally making life for her miserable.  Can you relate to this?
But that all changed.  Niki, that's my wife, got Born Again watching TBN and I a few days later. (see my testimony in about us)   I won't say everything became rosy, but it was a start.   We started to bond again and the Lord gave me this illustration to show what was happening in our lives.
Married people, if you would look at yourselves as a couple of pieces of bread.  The wife is one piece and the other the husband, God said  "Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." KJV   When we get married in the sight of God, we are to be one flesh and ...let no man or devil put asunder(separate).  Unfortunately, many marriages  are less than Spiritual, more like a convenience.  But God can fix this.
So what am I saying?  Let Jesus be the peanut butter on your relationship sandwich.  Do this experiment and you will see what I am saying.
Put a thin layer of peanut butter on one slice of bread, this represents one of the marriage partners saved.  Now try to put the other dry (no peanut butter) piece of bread together with the first ( this represents the unsaved partner).   Now try to separate the two, (if you didn't mash them together), they can easily be separated.  God can fix this also.
Now put generous amounts of peanut butter to both halves and place them together, this represents both partners saved and in love with Jesus.  You cannot get them apart.  There's the common ground that bonds marriages together.  Guess what, the closer you get to Jesus the thicker the layer of peanut butter, it becomes more of Him and less of you.  This is what God had in mind when he said " the two shall become one flesh".  Amen
